The recorded history of Six Sigma Ranch goes back to around 1860 when William Daniel Asbill and his family settled close to our present gate at Spruce Grove Road. Over the years, the Asbill family acquired about 800 acres covering the western part of Six Sigma Ranch. Both Michael's and Else's Vineyards are planted on former Asbill land.

The area around Christian's Vineyard in the Diamond Mine was first settled by the Schwiers brothers, German emigrants. Here, their century-old olive trees form a backdrop for the newly planted vineyard in 2002.
The Halvorsens The Halvorsens owned about 1000 acres, including the eastern part of the future Diamond Mine Vineyard. The rock fence around Halvorsens former hay field looks very much like the rocks we have ripped out of the ground in the Diamond mine.
