5/30/2008 Kids' afternoon out
Everybody had invested in the fieldtrip - the kids who raised funds by recycling and by working at a Trash-a-thon; the community who donated the funds; the adults who donated their time; the teachers who put everything together.

While one group of students enjoyed craft projects with a nature theme, others hiked on the old steep and winding road leading up to our Diamond Mine Vineyards.

The highlight of the day was the horseback riding provided by Susie Wiloth of Wiloth Equine Therapy and Riding Center. Under the reassuring guidance of Susie and her staff, each child got a choice of riding or leading a horse. Whether looking down on the world from the height of a horse or walking on level with one, every child seemed to bond with his or her new equine friend.

At the end of the day, the kids got a chance to roll up their jeans and explore the plants and critters in the creek crossing.
